Based on the real scandal, Bombshell is a revealing look inside the most powerful and controversial media empire of all time; Fox News, and the explosive story of the women who brought down the infamous man who created it. “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks), he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor. Based on the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.  Showtimes here.

Geraldine  As stewards of Appalachian motifs in a modern framework, Geraldine brings banjo, dobro, guitar, fiddle, and Appalachian flat foot dancing to the front of the stage, accented with lush four-part harmonies, in a free-wheeling repertoire of both original and rare and wonderful gems from the past. (8:30 to 11:30pm)

Guest Speaker after the 5:30 screening of “Bombshell” Dr. Pallavi Guha, Assistant Professor of Journalism & New Media, Towson University. Dr. Guha’s research includes anti-rape and sexual harassment activism on mass media and social media platforms; the role of gender in electoral campaign and media; and politics and social media. She is a former journalist, researcher, and media educator with 15 years of professional experience. Dr. Guha has won multiple awards for her research and teaching. Dr. Guha has a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Maryland, and her academic background lies in the intersection of political science, international relations, communication, journalism, and Women’s Studies. Dr. Guha has worked internationally for leading media organizations including BBC News and television, The Times of India in UK, India, and the U.S.

Greenbelt Online emailed for info about hours and costs and here’s the response: “It’s an informal event. Each person would pay for their own meal (estimated cost $20). The planned time is 1-3 PM. The plan is for me to coordinate the plan with everyone who expresses interest in going.”
