“Theater Camp” Director: Molly Gordon, Nick Lieberman. 1h 34m, PG-13. Cast: Ben Platt, Molly Gordon, Noah Galvin, Jimmy Tatro, Patti Harrison, Nathan Lee Graham. Eccentric staff members of an upstate New York theatre camp must band together when their beloved founder falls into a coma.

“Shortcomings” Director: Randall Park. 1h 32m. Cast: Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola, Ally Maki, Tavi Gevinson, Debby Ryan, Sonoya Mizuno. Ben, a struggling filmmaker, lives in Berkeley, California, with his girlfriend, Miko, who works for a local Asian American film festival. When he’s not managing an arthouse movie theater as his day job, Ben spends his time obsessing over unavailable blonde women, watching Criterion Collection DVDs, and eating in diners with his best friend Alice, a queer grad student with a serial dating habit. When Miko moves to New York for an internship, Ben is left to his own devices, and begins to explore what he thinks he might want.

“Barbie!”  Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. Cast: Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera

The Sugarsmacks Fundraiser for New Deal Cafe: Formed in early 2020, the Sugarsmacks are committed to having fun playing music they love. With styles ranging from funk to rockabilly, the goal is to make people move and groove! With opening act The Relics! Please bring cash and tip generously- all proceeds go toward keeping the New Deal Cafe up and running! (8 to 11pm)

Reel and Meal at the New Deal: Reel and Meal will show the film Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North” at 7 p.m. at the Cafe and via Zoom. “Traces of the Trade” uncovers slavery’s pivotal role in New England’s economy. Filmmaker Katrina Browne and 9 other descendants of the DeWolf family trace their family’s significant slave-trading past in Bristol, R.I. They journey to Ghana’s slave forts and a Cuban sugar plantation, confronting white privilege, guilt, and the need for reparations. The documentary prompts reflection on historical injustices and ways to address them. The New Deal Café offers a full menu for the live screening.
