Janis and Ana, two disparate women, meet while in labor. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Middle-aged Janis (Penélope Cruz) is exultant; adolescent Ana (Milena Smit) is scared, repentant and traumatized. Janis tries to encourage Ana while they move like sleepwalkers through the hospital corridors. Though few words are exchanged, the two are inextricably linked when a turn of fate changes their lives in a decisive way.

Reel and Meal Film: Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice
The film begins at 7 p.m. either live in the New Deal Café or via Zoom. Well-known multimedia journalist and Baltimore City native, Nicki Mayo, will lead the discussion after the film.
Greenbelt’s Co-op Grocery will again offer a vegan meal for $7.99. This week’s selection is Thai Dinner of Macro Vegetarian’s Pad Thai and Thai Dumplings with steam broccoli. Phone in your pre-order to 301-474-0522 by 1 p.m. on Feb. 21, for pick-up between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the deli. Depending on demand, there may be dinners on a walk-in basis, if not pre-ordered. People may also choose from a varied menu in-person at the Café.
The Greenbelt Black History and Culture Committee in celebration of Greenbelt’s Black History Month co-sponsors this month’s film along with the Peace and Justice Coalition.
