“Asteroid City” with Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston. World-changing events spectacularly disrupt the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention in an American desert town circa 1955.

“Past Lives”  With Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, John Magaro, Seung-ah Moon, Seung-Min Yim, Ji-Hye Yoon. Nora and Hae Sung, two deeply connected childhood friends, are wrest apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea. Decades later, they are reunited for one fateful week as they confront destiny, love and the choices that make a life.

Easter Parade FREE. No ticket needed. With Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Ann Miller. In this lavish musical, Broadway star Don Hewes’ (Fred Astaire) dancing partner (Ann Miller) goes solo, and Don declares that he can make a hit performer out of the next dancer he sees. This turns out to be the inexperienced Hannah (Judy Garland), who bristles as Don tries to make her into his old partner. But as he realizes that he is falling in love with Hannah, Don knows that he must let her grow into her own kind of dancer if he wants her to reach her full potential.

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to save their home — not to mention his — Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) to be Farquaad’s bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

The Pilgrims of Deep Run: Baltimore-based Irish traditional group. Covering dance tunes and pub songs. The Pilgrims give the audience a wide variety of styles within the tradition. With members switching between violin, mandolin, guitar, banjo, bodhrán, bouzouki, viola, octave mandolin, and tin whistle, each tune has its own unique character.  (8 to 11pm)

In the Greenbelt Forest Preserve

Walk in the Northwoods of Greenbelt Forest Preserve 10 am – 1 pm. Greenbelt Biota walk in the Northwoods section of the Greenbelt Forest Preserve. Starting from a different spot this time..Meet at the playground at the North end of Laurel Hill rd. Parking is restricted so be careful not to park in the “reserved” spots. The walk will be slow, with many stops to appreciate and discuss native plants and critters. The trails are narrow on gently hilly terrain. There will be logs to step over, and a little creek to cross. We will end at 1pm, but of course you can leave earlier if you know your way in the woods – or have a map on your phone that can display open map trails.As always, please dress appropriately for ticks (they seem worse than usual this year!) and watch for bramble and poison ivy

New Deal Open Mic with Tom Gleason: Performers have up to eight minutes (pending their set up time) to play music, read poetry, perform standup, or provide other forms of entertainment. How it works: To sign up, performers put their name in a designated container. At 6:30, the host will pull out names, and each person called will choose a performance slot (1 to 15). Each choice will be referred to as a utah. Why? Ask Tom on open mic night. Those whose names are pulled after the 15th utah will be added to the end of the list to possibly play,  pending time available. If a performer (or the performer’s representative) is not present when their name is pulled, they forfeit their chance to pick their slot!  (7 to 9:30pm)

The Redwine Jazz Band: Bassist John Previti, Guitarist Tom Mitchell, and Ben Redwine formed their trio in 2001 and have four recordings to their credit. The band performs selections from the “Great American Songbook”, and music from the early part of the 20th century, when jazz was invented in New Orleans. The trio’s lasting friendships show in their performances, with witty repartee and intuitive improvised arrangements being standard fare in each of their appearances. (7 to 9pm)

Junior Ranger Trail Walk Join a Park ranger on an introductory trail walk for children (Junior Rangers) on the Azalea Trail. Discover the enjoyment of walking a trail and discovering nature along the Azalea Trail.
We will hand out Junior Ranger booklets and work on some of the pages and everyone can earn their Junior Ranger badge.
