Misbehavin’ Maidens: lewd lyrical lasses with tight chorals and loose morals! “Funny, filthy, feminist, fandom folk.” The Misbehavin’ Maidens are a bawdy nerd-folk comedy band comprised of four women from the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area with a love of feminist, sex-positive music, LGBTQIA+ representation, parodies, drinking & fandom references for the 18+ geek crowd. Their debut album, “Busted,” was released in 2015; their second album, “Sloppy Seconds,” was released in 2017; and their third album, “Swearing is Caring,” was released July of 2019. “You Hurt My Feelings” opens. Cast: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tobias Menzies, Michaela Watkins, Arian Moayed, Owen Teague, Jeannie Berlin. Beth (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), a popular writer, and her husband Don, a well-liked teacher, share the kind of relationship that truly, seriously, for the love of God cannot be real: that is, they’re actually in love. Even after decades of marriage, parenting, and their own successful careers, their physical spark has somehow not diminished; in fact, they seem to relish the opportunity to share a single ice cream cone and drive others — including their son, Charlie — mad. Should it come as a surprise then that his own marriage is in crisis? But when Beth discovers that Don has been untruthful to her about his opinion of her work for years — Beth’s world comes crashing down. Has their whole relationship been one Big Fat Lie?

New Deal Cafe Saturday Jazz Jam – come on out and enjoy an afternoon of jazz with an ensemble of some of the finest musicians in the DMV region. (2 to 5pm)
When Clarence “The Blues Man” Turner is in the cafe, you know “It’s Blues Time”! Over the years, Clarence developed signature guitar strokes by using items other than the usual “pick”, including cell phones, microphones, harmonicas and everything else in between. As he puts it, “Why use a pick when there are so many other interesting things to use?” Clarence was born into blues and you’ll agree that he’s been appropriately sanctioned; Clarence “The Bluesman” Turner. (8 to 11pm)

In Greenbelt National Park

Campfire Program at 8 pm featuring the U.S. Army as National Park Stewards: Before the N.P.S. was established in 1916, troops of the U.S. Army patrolled and protected some of the iconic parks in the West, like Sequoia with its mammoth Redwood trees. Among these soldiers were some of the African-American troopers of the cavalry who served as the first “park rangers” building roads and conserving the wildlife. Park rangers wear the “flat hat” in tribute to the army campaign hat that they wore with its “Montana Peak” crown and broad brim.

Valeria Stewart
Valeria is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up in the DC area. She has been performing in the DMV area for many years, first with the Stewart Sisters, and later as half of the duo Luna. She now performs as a soloist or in a trio called Crooked Sparrow, with singer-songwriter Kevin Dudley and fiddler Jenny Smith. Valeria’s songs have a blend of latin, folk, jazz, and Americana roots sound. Her first EP ‘The Alchemist’s Journey’, as part of Luna, was released in 2020.

Ammonite:
 a new power trio from Washington, D.C., adding some jangle and twang to the urgent intensity of ’90s rock, in the vein of Sleater-Kinney, Veruca Salt, and The Breeders. Ammonite played their inaugural show at Pearl Street Warehouse raising funds for DMV Food Justice. The band has been invited to play “The Tea” presented by The National Museum of Women In The Arts in 2023. (9-11pm)

National Trails Day Greenbelt has four trails ranging from 0.8 miles to 5.2 miles.You are invited to walk a trail, discover nature and use our park to improve your health. The best trails to access are the Azalea (1.2 miles) and the Perimeter Trail (5.2 miles).

National Trails Day is the only nationally coordinated event designed to unite all muscle-powered trail activities with the goal of connecting more people to trails. Every trail beckons adventure and has a story to share with any person willing to discover it. Each year, on the first Saturday of June, American Hiking Society and the trails community invite Americans of all ages and abilities to find their own adventure and discover their unique story at one of the thousands of events hosted throughout the country.
