She graduated from George Mason University and then continued with her education to obtain her Paralegal Certificate from Georgetown University. With an undergraduate degree in Journalism, she has always enjoyed writing. Coming from a family of three girls and Aisha smack in the middle, hair trials and tribulations were a constant in her household. Aisha spends her weekends hiking with her family, friends, and dog Charlie. She also enjoys doing different community related projects.
Her debut book My Kinky Coily Hair focus a young girl named Naomi who battles with individuality and acceptance of self. She wrote this book to encourage her daughter that she was enough and to remind young children of their innate, magical, totally awesome selves. By teaching children to take pride in their differences, it combats the narrative of bullying. Allowing kids to flourish and become comfortable with the person staring back at them in the mirror.
Aisha also loves sharing her passion of literacy and self-acceptance with young scholars. She has been presenting different workshops to young scholars in classrooms on the east coast (from VA to Connecticut).
