June 1 is Greenbelt’s anniversary – its 77th – so Greenbelt Day celebrations were all over the place. What a fabulous day, with gobsmackingly beautiful weather, to boot.
The Greenbelt Museum-sponsored Roosevelt Ride began the day, with riders in period and regular attire.
Folks from Proteus Bicycles were on hand.
Nice touch of still more period dress on substitute Market Master Mary Denise Smith, filling in for Nancy Solomon. She’s expert in thrift-shop shopping.
Musicians from Eleanor Roosevelt High School entertained shoppers at the market.
At the New Deal Cafe, Rob and Heather of ilyAMY kicked off a fund-raiser for gubernatorial candidate Heather Mizeur.
In the Community Center gym, Mayor Emmett Jordan introduced Greenbelt Day and the Greenbelt Concert Band.
Thomas Cherrix, long-time band conductor, wielded his baton.
At the Three Sisters Garden behind the Community Center, alight dance theater performed part II of “Three Sisters Gardens for All Seasons,” a series of site-specific dance performances. A joint event with CHEARS.
While inside, the Greenbelt Pottery Group was selling their very cool wares.
