The Active Times has named the 50 best bike shops in the whole U.S. of A. and our own Proteus is number 3!  Here’s the announcement in a recent Proteus e-newsletter:

We were happy enough to be one of the 80 nominees for The Active Times’ 50 Best Bike Shops; however, to not only be chosen as one of the 50 best, but to be voted #3 in the nation is a true honor, one that we owe to you, our Proteus family and friends. We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us, this crazy, wonderful place that “feels like home.”

Okay, Proteus isn’t technically in Greenbelt, but it’s the closest bike shop to us and it’s owned by Greenbelters Laurie and Jeff Lemieux.  Plus, Jeff will soon be joining Greenbelt Live as a regular contributor on the issue he cares most about – transportation.  Can’t wait!
